Arunachal Assembly sets up COVID-19 control room

ITANAGAR, April 25 - The Arunachal Pradesh State Legislative Assembly on Friday set up a COVID-19 control room at the Assembly Secretariat premises here, in a bid to help the State�s people stranded across the country amid the ongoing nationwide lockdown.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, during a video conference with all presiding officers of the State Assemblies on April 21, had suggested establishment of COVID control rooms at the Lok Sabha Secretariat as well as in the State Assemblies to help migrant workers and students stranded due to the lockdown.

Accordingly, under the direction of Arunachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona, a COVID-19 control room has been set up at the Assembly Secretariat. The control room will coordinate with the central COVID control room at the Lok Sabha Secretariat and those of other State Assemblies for exchange of information.

The control room will be made operational from Monday with youths from different walks of life turning up to volunteer for the cause. It will function under the supervision of Special Secretary to the Speaker, PN Thongchi, who is also the COVID-19 Nodal Officer, Joint Secretary Agaab Mossang and Under Secretary L Rongrang.
