Arun Kumar Ray passes away

BONGAIGAON, May 28 - Founder President of Koch-Rajbongshi Sahitya Sabha, Arun Kumar Ray (90) passed away early this morning at his residence at Siponsila near Bongaigaon town.

Late Ray had obtained accolades and honour for his work on Koch-Rajbongshi literature, language and culture.

He was born in 1925 at Besimari in Boitamari area in Bongaigaon district. He had completed his schooling at Bengtol in Chirang district and joined Birjhora HS School, where he studied up to class ten. Then he taught in the middle vernacular school in Bengtol area before leading a peasant movement as a Leftist leader.

Later, he settled at Siponsila and devoted his time for the development of Koch-Rajbongshi language and culture. Moreover, he continued his research on language of the community till his last breath.

Many organizations have sent their condolences to the bereaved family members soon after the news of Ray�s death spread.
