Guwahati, March 21: The depression formed over north Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal, due to cyclone Asani moved north-northeastwards at a speed of 12 kmph during last 06 hours and intensified into a deep depression and lay centered at 0530 hours IST today, the India Meteorological Department said.

The depression has intensified about 110 km east-northeast of Port Blair (Andaman Islands), 320 km north-northeast of Car Nicobar (Nicobar Islands) and 610 km south-southwest of Yangon (Myanmar).

It is likely to intensify further into a cyclonic storm during next 12 hrs and is likely to move nearly northwards along and off Andaman Islands towards Myanmar coast during next 48 hrs.

In Northeast India, light to moderate rain is very likely to occur at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh. While light rain is very likely to occur at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya and weather is most likely to remain dry over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura for the next few days.

As per a bulletin issued by the Regional Meteorological Department, Guwahati from Day 3 to 4 thunderstorm with lightening is very likely to occur at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya.
