SILCHAR, Dec 8 - People under the banner of Karimganj Citizen�s Committee staged a daylong sit-in protest against the failure of police to arrest the persons, including a woman and three other policemen, accused in the suicide case of Pratyay Das, a resident of Brajendra Road in Karimganj on November 30.
During the protest, the committee members slammed the police for its inaction to arrest Shreya Paul (19), wife of Pratyay and two police officials Paban Kalita, the second OC of Karimganj Sadar Police Station along with Constable Amir Khasru Alam Chaudhury.
It may be mentioned here that following an FIR by Pratyay�s father demanding arrest of the accused, the police had arrested Nipul Ahmed, a sub-inspector of CID from Karbi Anglong for his alleged involvement in the suicide case.
Meanwhile, Karimganj SP (in-charge) Mahesh Sharma informed that the police are investigating the matter and the accused persons will be arrested soon.
