GUWAHATI, April 22 � Arpan Das of West Bengal toppled table leader Arvinder Preet Singh of Punjab to grab the top position after completion of the 8th round of the 5th Jugal Kishor Newatia Memorial FIDE Rating Chess Tournament at Terapanth Bhawan, Fancy Bazar, here today.

Arpan Das of West Bengal took sole lead with 7.5 points. On the first board Arpan defeated Arvindar (6.5).

On the second board 2nd seed Rajib Dhar (6) of Assam lost to RK Bhogen Singh (7) of Manipur.
