Around 1,000 saplings planted at Sonapur

GUWAHATI, May 15 - Around 1,000 saplings of ornamental, fruit bearing and medicinal varieties were planted in the upcoming FTR headquarter location of SSB Guwahati in Sonapur by officers, troops and SSB Wives Welfare Association (SWWA) members of Frontier & 22nd Bn SSB in collaboration with Art of Living Foundation volunteers on Saturday.

The aim of the plantation drive is to promote and contribute to the greater objective of a clean and green North East. The drive was led by Sudhir Kumar, DIG, FTR Hqrs, SSB, Guwahati along with his team of officers and Anup Saha, a yoga instructor with his team from Art of Living Foundation.

As informed by SSB sources, more such activities are lined up in the coming monsoon season at different locations.

Around 300 enthusiasts and volunteers contributed to the cause of saving the environment. Apart from regular border guarding duties, SSB is also actively involved and committed to such green initiatives from time to time for protection of the environment in its area of deployment, SSB sources said.
