Arnab working on his dream of independent media

GUWAHATI, Nov 12 - Noted journalist Arnab Goswami today said that he is working towards achieving his dream of having an independent media in the country, which will be able to compete with global news channels like the BBC and the CNN.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a book release function here, Goswami said, �I have a dream... to have an independent media in the country, run by journalists... global media which can give competition to BBC and CNN.�

He said it will be a media house where there will be no interference on the work of journalists.

�Nobody has put pressure on me since the last 20 years. I don�t feel any journalist can be put under pressure,� Goswami said.

Goswami, who has for many years served as the Editor-in-Chief of Times Now, was recently in the news when there were reports that he has resigned from his position. Since then, various rumours and speculations have been doing the rounds regarding his future course of action.

Goswami today finally broke his silence in Guwahati, where he was present on the occasion of the release of short story compilation Edhari Mala written by his father Col (retd) Manoranjan Goswami.

Speaking on the occasion, Arnab Goswami said, �I would want to translate every story of my father, all fictions and writings of Col Goswami in as many languages as possible, especially English. I will take up this project,� he said.

The book released today contains 14 short stories written by Col Goswami. It was released by noted journalist Kanak Sen Deka. Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was also present at the function.
