GUWAHATI, Oct 9 - An Army personnel was arrested last night on the charge of kidnapping a minor from the Panjabari area and taking him to Uttar Pradesh.
The accused, identified as Lance Naik Bimlesh Kumar Singh (37), had been evading police but was finally caught late yesterday evening.
The Lance Naik had taken away a minor boy, of around 15 years of age, and confined him in Uttar Pradesh. Later, the boy somehow managed to escape and appeared before the police. Meanwhile, a missing complaint was lodged by the boy�s family. Apparently, the boy was lured with promises of being provided a job, but was made to work at the Army personnel�s residence.
Singh was serving in the 51 Sub Area of the Army at Narengi here.
�He was arrested last night and forwarded to judicial custody today,� Noonmati ACP Purabi Mazumdar said.
A case has been registered at the Satgaon Police Station under Sections 343/365/506 of IPC.
