GUWAHATI, April 27 - The Indian Army unit of Red Horns Division in coordination with NDRF, Guwahati, and other disaster management agencies launched a joint initiative to prepare for flood relief operations before the onset of the monsoon season.
The training and rehearsal was carried out for seven days at Amingaon on the banks of the Brahmaputra river and the final demonstration of the honed skills was carried out on Saturday.
The event was witnessed by a large number of military and civil officials. The exercise provided an ideal platform to understand mutual capabilities and foster bonhomie and synergy between personnel of the agencies who will be deployed for management of flood relief operations.
Brig Gaurav Rishi, commander of the Invictus Brigade, exhorted all participants to understand the delicate nature of such operations and the necessity to work as a coherent team, an official said.
