GUWAHATI, Oct 19 � To increase awareness about career prospects in the Army among the youth, a grand scale Army Mela and Ex-servicemen Rally will be conducted on October 24, at the Judges Field, MG Road here.
Another aim of the Army Mela is to showcase variety of weapons and equipment which form the strength of the Army. �Governor of Assam, JB Patnaik has consented to inaugurate the Army Mela at 11 am and Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will inaugurate the ex-servicemen rally at 2 pm.�Various other dignitaries from the Government of Assam and the Army will grace the occasion, an official release stated.�
The event is an ideal opportunity for the youth of Assam and the school children to see the various facets of the Army. To add colour to the event there will be sky diving, band display, dog show and various cultural programmes. �
The event will commence at 10 am on October 24 and would continue till 4 pm.
