SILCHAR, Oct 2 - In a bid to ensure transparency in recruitment to the armed forces, the Indian Army has cautioned the job seekers to stay away from touts and agents.

In a recent interaction with the NCC cadets of Nehru College at Pailapool in Lakhipur under Cachar district, Col. Mayank Upadhyay, SM, Director, Army Recruiting Organisation, Silchar, discussed a wide range of topics, including transparency in the recruitment procedure.

Col Upadhyay underscored the need of the aspirants to stay away from the touts and agents who are in the hunt to trap the job seekers with alluring job offers in the Army.

The Army recruitment process is conducted online and there is no opportunity for any foul means, Col. Upadhyay told the students who came in large numbers from different parts of Barak Valley and Dima Hasao. He added that, besides the educational performance of the candidates, participation in the recruitment rallies; written examinations and physical tests are the main criteria for their final selection.

He appealed to the youth and their kin who come for the recruitment test not to allow themselves to be misguided by the touts.

Ensuring absolute transparency in the recruitment process, the Director informed the enthusiastic students about the forthcoming recruitment camp scheduled to be held later this year and narrated in detail the various level of tests that were necessary to be cleared in order to join the Army.

A motivational film which was screened to acquaint the student cadets with the Army lifestyle and the facilities evinced great interest among the NCC cadets. The film also portrayed the supreme sacrifice made by the valiant soldiers during the call of duty, i.e., during various wars and operations in the past.

Col A Shreenath, the Camp Commandant, concluded the talk.
