GUWAHATI, Aug 31 - Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) week was celebrated all over the Gajraj Corps recently with enthusiasm and zeal, a PIB(DW) release stated.
Numerous activities were organised on the occasion. A special medical camp was organised where families of troops and Veer Naris underwent blood group testing, eye checkup, dental checkup, breast and cervical cancer detection test. Almost 400 families availed the facility.
Special motivational talks, lectures and debates were held for the families with an aim of creating awareness about contemporary issues and women�s rights. The AWWA Week culminated with the felicitation of Veer Naris by the zonal president AWWA, Bindu Sarath Chand. Thirty six Veer Naris from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh were felicitated and were provided financial assistance as well as guidance on various social benefit schemes offered by the State and Central Government.
