Army denies NDFB(S) claim

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 26 - The Indian Army today rubbished allegations by the NDFB (S) that security forces had wrongly implicated a poor lady and branded her as a terrorist.

On the night of June 16, based on corroborated intelligence, a search operation was launched by a joint task force of police and army in Samudisha village in Chirang, in which a locally trained NDFB (S) lady cadre Rishima Narzary was arrested, defence spokesman Lt Col P Khongsai said in a statement.

During the search operation, arms, ammunition and other incriminating material were recovered from the lady cadre, which is a clear indication of her involvement in anti-national activities and her affiliation to NDFB (S), he said.

The allegations leveled by the NDFB are completely baseless. The fact remains that the arrest of Rishima Narzary has unsettled the NDFB (S) and delivered a blow to their illegitimate activities in the region, causing panic among its top leadership, the Army spokesman said.

The intention of the NDFB (S) top leadership reacting to this operation is maliciously aimed at tarnishing the image of security forces and perpetrate misleading propaganda among the masses, he added.
