Army chief visits Dah Division

DULIAJAN, May 12 � Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General VK Singh, arrived recently at Dinjan and visited various military posts along the LAC in the Dah Division sector.

The General was received by Lieutenant General Bikram Singh, GOC-in-C, Eastern Command, Lieutenant General NK Singh, GOC 3 Corps and Major General BS Sachar, GOC Dah Division and other civilian officials on his arrival at Chabua.

The COAS thereafter went to Khonsa in Arunachal Pradesh and took stock of the security situation in the districts of Tirap and Changlang. The General was accorded a traditional welcome by the local people on his arrival at Khonsa. He appreciated the good work being carried out by the Assam Rifles in the area, truly commensurate to their motto �Friends of Hill People�.

At Dinjan Military Station, GOC Dah Division, Major General BS Sachar briefed him on the security situation in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and the state of operational preparedness of the Dah Division.

The General complimented the Dah Division for assisting the civil administration of Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh by providing two metric tonnes of foodstocks in time of need. It may be mentioned here that the district has been cut off since first week of April due to heavy rains.

The wife of the General, Bharti Singh interacted with the ladies of the Dah Family and appreciated the support being provided to the families of the brave soldiers who are deployed at the far flung and difficult areas, for protection of their motherland. She also complimented the Dah Division Welfare Organisation for reaching out to reconnect with the veer naris.
