MANGALDAI, Sep 1 - Last Friday was something special for the Army jawans in olive green camp here at Chapai. Unlike the normal days, the officers and jawans of the army unit under the Red Horns were in civil attire.
Deployed for counter insurgency operations, miles away from their native land and families, the members of the troupe belonging to South India celebrated Onam � the State festival of Kerala on Friday.
The whole camp and surrounding area bore a neat and clean and attractive ambience decorated with colourful cloths, rongoli and banana trees.
Deputy Commissioner, Darrang Manoj Kumar, along with renowned industrialists Mukul Chandra Deka, Anupam Deka and Sagar Deka of SRD Group of Companies, Dayananda Saikia, Chief Manager, SBI, Mangaldai, senior mediapersons, lawyers and social activists joined the celebration.
