IMPHAL, Jan 9 - A joint team of Assam Rifles and Bihar Regiment launched a joint operation in Bunghal Khullen area of Thoubal district in Manipur and recovered arms and ammunition on January 7, according to a press release.
�During a search operation, the team recovered one AK-56 rifle and two magazines along with 60 live rounds of 7.62mm ammunition�, the release said.
Further search along with Thoubal Commandos led to recovery of 54 live rounds of 7.62mm, 47 live rounds of 7.62mm sniper rifle, one magazine of 7.62mm AK-56 Rifle, one magazine of 5.56mm of M 16 rifle and five live rounds of 5.56mm of M 16 rifle, it added.
Search of the living room of one Lelen Kipgen, who was missing. resulted in recovery of one seal of KNF (N), demand letter and documents pertaining to KNF (N), it said.
Mizoram BJP chief on cow slaughter
Aizawl, Jan 9 - The newly-elected BJP Mizoram unit chief has said that other religions should understand the sentiments of Hindus on the issue of cow slaughter.
�As cow is worshipped by Hindus, other religion should appreciate cow slaughter ban by some States,� Prof John V Hluna told mediapersons here recently.
He said BJP has never been against Christianity or the Christian community as alleged by some interested parties and the party was ready to help churches in the State.
Admitting that some BJP workers used to collect donations from companies and businessmen, he said that such collection of donations would be discontinued. � PTI
