Arms recovered

ITANAGAR, May 28 - Security forces have busted an NSCN (I-M) hideout and recovered a huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives at Miao Bum Reserve Forest in Changlang district on Wednesday.

Defence PRO Lt Col P Khongsai today said that based on a specific intelligence input regarding presence of armed NSCN (I-M) cadres, Army troops along with Arunachal Pradesh Police launched an operation in the forested area.

During the search operation, which was conducted in an inhospitable terrain amid inclement weather, the team recovered weapons, ammunition and other war-like stores.

The recovered items included one AK-56 rifle with three magazines and 115 live rounds of ammunition, one .22 pistol with a magazine and three live rounds of ammunition, one under-barrel grenade launcher, one hand grenade, one kg of explosives and other war-like stores, the Defence PRO said.

The recovered items have been handed over to Changlang Police for further investigation, he added.

Congratulating security forces, Chief Minister Pema Khandu tweeted: �Kudos to Indian Army and Arunachal Pradesh Police for recovering a cache of arms, ammunition, explosives in a joint operation from a NSCN (IM) hideout in Miao Bum RF in Changlang district. This has dealt a blow to the nefarious designs of the proscribed group operating in the region. Bravo!�
