TURA, Sept 8 - A cache of arms was recovered from a pond in Meghalaya�s West Garo Hills district, police said on Sunday. The cache is suspected to be dumped in the pond by a gang of inter-state dacoits, an officer said.

�Acting on a tip-off from fishermen, we recovered three country-made guns and camouflage uniforms from the pond in Bholarbitha village under Phulbari Police Station limits on Friday evening,� the officer said.

A gang of dacoits operating between Meghalaya and Assam was recently apprehended. �We suspect the weapons belonged to this gang. We have handed over the suspects to Assam Police as many cases are pending against them,� West Garo Hills SP MGR Kumar said. � PTI
