Arms, ammo recovered near Orang Nat�l Park

MANGALDAI, Dec 21 - Averting a possible rhino poaching bid in the Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve, Dalgaon police recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from a residential campus at Sonari village near the national park last night.

Acting on an input, police searched the area with support from the local people and finally managed to recover a .303 rifle, 11 rounds of live ammunition, a silencer, etc, kept buried in a gunny bag in the residential premises of one Samsher Ali.

Officer in-charge of the Dalgaon Police Station Khirod Baishya said, �We suspect that some antisocial elements had planned to sneak into the forest with these arms and ammunition to kill rhinos.�

Police investigation is still on in this connection. No arrest has been made yet.
