AREIDA meets Himanta over Guwahati issues

GUWAHATI, July 6 - A delegation of AREIDA led by its president PK Sharma, met GDD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at his office recently and discussed various issues pertaining to development of Guwahati, particularly those causing stagnation in the department in the past few years.

Anomalies in the amendment to the Master Plan proposed by vested interests in the GMDA, the issue of building byelaws operating with numerous errors for the past two-and-a-half years, the public complaints on the online building permission software, the need to protect the forests, hills and wetlands as also the planned development of Guwahati as per CMP 2025, serviced apartments to promote tourism and incentives for green buildings were amongst the issues discussed.

The delegation congratulated the government on adopting a very positive and growth-oriented �Assam Vision Document 2016-2025,� and put forward various constructive suggestions on implementation of the vision.

�We have pledged our commitment to all public interest initiatives of the government like the of greening of Guwahati by undertaking a massive plantation drive in the denuded hills,� an AREIDA statement said.
