AREIDA hails launch of housing schemes

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 25 - The Assam Real Estate and Infrastructure Developers Association (AREIDA) has hailed the launch of the Aponar Apon Ghar and Abinandan schemes by the State government. The schemes as committed in the state budget in February 2019, would give the people of Assam a subsidy of upto Rs 2.5 lakh for housing loans amounting to Rs 40 lakh and boost demand for housing and flow of the much needed capital to the real estate sector, in the State, it said.

Loan amounts from Rs 5 to Rs 10 lakh will have Rs 1 lakh interest subsidy. For loan amounts between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 20 lakh the subsidy will be Rs 1.50 lakh, from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 30 lakh Rs 2 lakh subsidy will be given and for loans from Rs 30 to 40 lakh Rs 2.50 lakh subsidy will be provided.

The combined benefit of the Aponar Apon Ghar and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) of the Central government will entitle home buyers to get approximately Rs 5 lakh subsidy as both the schemes will work concurrently, AREIDA president PK Sharma said.

Unfortunately the hurdles created by the Urban Development and Guwahati Development departments have caused a serious crisis and brought the industry to the stage of collapse. Unless these two departments as well as the PMAY mission directorate take urgent action on the implementation of the norms and policies of the government and the law of the land, viable new projects will not be possible, Sharma said.
