TIHU, March 6 - Dr Pitambar Deva Goswami, Satradhikar of Auniati Satra, formally opened the Hareswar Talukdar Memorial archway of Tihu Barowari Durga Puja and Raas Mahotsav Mandir on last Sunday.
The archway was built at a cost of approximately Rs 14 lakh by the family members of eminent social worker Hareswar Talukdar.
In his speech, the Satradhikar hoped that the two festivals will surely ensure spiritual unity, knowledge and peace among the people of greater Tihu area and enlighten the minds of the devotees.
Pabindra Deka, MLA of Patacharkuchi LAC, Ganesh Tamuli, chairman of North East Cancer Hospital and Hiren Talukdar spoke a few words on the occasion.
Earlier, Sabitri Talukdar, wife of Hareswar Talukdar lit the ceremonial earthen lamp near the portrait of Hareswar Talukdar. The meeting was anchored by Sankar Kumar Das and chaired by Karuna Kanta Kalita.
