IMPHAL, March 13 - As part of the 181st Raising Day celebrations of Assam Rifles on March 24, free medical camps were organised at 24 locations across seven districts of Manipur since last few days.

Doctors and paramedical staff from government and private hospitals also participated in the initiative.

A total of 3,448 civilians and 1,144 Ex-Servicemen received preliminary medical and dental treatment besides health checkups during the medical camps, PRO Assam Rifles (South) said in a press release.

Major General VS Sreenivas, IG, Assam Rifles (South) said that the camps are not an isolated effort but part of a larger holistic endeavour of the Assam Rifles to provide succour to the people of the State, the release added.

The Assam Rifles also carried out a State-wide Cleanliness Campaign on March 12 and March 13. The AR is also planning to undertake long term initiatives such as adoption of villages by units and a State-wide drive to facilitate registration for Jan-Dhan Yojana Scheme.
