APW plans stir over graft during NRC updating process

GUWAHATI, March 18 - Voluntary organisation Assam Public Works (APW) has threatened agitational programmes against those who were involved in the process to update the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the State for their alleged financial corruption involving public money worth Rs 1,600 crore.

In a statement to the press here, the voluntary organisation also said that it would move the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister to take up the issue of financial corruption indulged in by former NRC State Coordinator Prateek Hajela.

It has also decided to send a delegation to Madhya Pradesh by the end of May next to inform formally the Madhya Pradesh government of the financial corruption of Hajela. The delegation will also hold press meets there to make public the misdeeds of Hajela, the voluntary organisation said in the press statement.
