Appoint Rupshikha as CMD immediately: AJYCP

By CORRESPONDENT

JORHAT, July 2 In a protest against the Prime Ministers refusal to appoint Rupshikha Saikia Borah as the Chairman cum Managing Director(CMD) of the Oil India Limited several members of AJYCP burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP supremo Amit Shah in front of an establishment of the Navratna company at Charigaon area of Jorhat today.

Protesters said that the Prime Ministers decision to block her appointment is an instance of his discriminatory attitude to the efficient and qualified people of Assam as well as the North-east.

Why should she be deprived of the appointment? Her name was sent by the Petroleum Ministry for the top post on the basis of her efficiency and required experiences. We wont tolerate such discrimination to the talented people of our region, said Siva Kalita, State organising secretary of the AJYCP.

Besides, the AJYCP protesters of Jorhat accused Modi of neglecting the greater interest of the State as he failed to fulfil his promises of cancellation of the big dam projects, taking proper initiatives to protect the people from massive flood and erosion and many other problems.

Expressing concern over the PMOs decision to find out another officer for the top post of OIL, AJYCPs district president Ritul Pathak said that there might be a conspiracy by an anti-Assamese group of officials.

We demand PM to appoint her immediately as she deserves the top post of OIL. At the same time we also urge Union Minister Sarbanda Sonowal to clear his stand on the issue. We are astonished at the silence of Jatiya Nayak Sonowal in this regard, said Pathak.
