APDCLs unfenced transformers becoming death traps

By Correspondent

GAURIPUR, Dec 30 - The Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) has installed a number of transformers in many areas of greater Gauripur area for better service to the consumers, but in many places the transformers are not properly fenced turning them into death traps.

A large number of consumers of the locality have requested the APDCL authorities to properly fence the installed transformers, which have been installed at a low height and there is every possibility of an accident occurring. Such type of unfenced transformers are seen near the Gauripur Community Health Centre and near Bina Mandir Club.

People of irrespective of age and stray cows move in and around the area and out of curiosity the children may touch the transformer which in turn may cause fatal accidents. Besides the above two places, there are open transformers in some other areas too. It has also been alleged that the damaged transformers are neither timely repaired or replaced causing undue load shedding. Consumers of the areas have demanded immediate fencing of the open transformers to prevent accidents and repair or replace the damaged transformers for regular supply of electricity.
