APDCL�s monthly loss Rs 50 cr

GUWAHATI, Oct 1 - The Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL) is facing a loss of Rs 50 crore per month on an average. Thus it is losing a total amount of Rs 600 crore annually. The power distribution company describes this loss as aggregate technical and commercial loss.

Disclosing this at a press conference here today, APDCL CGM (HRD) and spokesperson Pranab Bora and APDCL OSD to the Chairman Dipankar Dihingia told newspersons that this loss is estimated to be around 25 per cent. The APDCL is planning to reduce this loss to 15 per cent by 2020 at the rate of 3 pre cent in a year.

Asked to explain as to what is the size of loss the APDCL is facing due to power theft, they said that around 30 lakh units of power are lost due to power theft and this results in a loss of Rs 1.80 crore per month in terms of money.

The APDCL was to get an amount of Rs 1,000 crore from its consumers as on August 16, 2016. Of this amount, it is to get Rs 100 crore from the State government and Rs 900 crore from the non-government parties. The power distribution company is to get around Rs 30 crore from the Jagiroad and Panchgram-based paper mills, they said.

The APDCL officials made an appeal to the power consumers to pay their bills in time so as to save the APDCL from further problems.
