APCC demands JPC probe into Rafale deal

MORIGAON, Sept 11 - The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has demanded a probe by a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) into the Rafale fighter aircraft deal.

As a part of the awareness campaign about the Rafale fighter aircraft controversy, Rockybul Hussain, former Minister and vice-president of the APCC while addressing a press conference here at Morigaon Congress Bhavan recently said that the Rafale sircraft deal is the biggest scandal in the BJP government and Rs 41,205 crore was siphoned away from the exchequer through illegal means.

A former Minister, Hussain said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi flouted all norms in purchasing the 36 Rafale aircraft and allotted offset contract of Rs 36,000 crore to Reliance company. Hussain said that the Modi Government is pursuing a policy of crony capitalism and there was no Cabinet decision to purchase those aircraft. The Congress Party will bring this burning issue of the country before the people and the people will judge about the misrule of the Modi government.

In the press confernce, former MLA, Morigaon Jon Jonali Boruah and several other leaders of the party were also present. Later, the members of the Youth Congress burnt an effigy of Prime Minister Modi on the main road protesting against fuel price rise.
