JORHAT, Nov 1 - Guwahati outfit Assam Police Blues made it to the semifinal stage of the 52nd ATPA Shield Football Tournament.

In a quarterfinal match played at Marioni today, the Assam Police Blues team defeated Nagaland Police 5-3 in penalty shoot-out as the keenly contested match ended in a goal-less draw.

In the tie breaker, N Vikash Singh, Kusho Rabha, Joseph Maslai, T Thoiba Singh and K Rongmei converted all the five shots for the winning team while for their Nagaland counterpart only Senti, N Kabui and C Hinithung could hit the target from the 12-yard spot.

Sumanta Dutta of Jorhat officiated the match which was witnessed by a capacity crowd.

Earlier, local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Rupjyoti Kurmi presided over the closing function where former Nagaland Chief Minister and present MP Neiphiu Rio was present as chief guest.
