AOA holds COVID-19 awareness camp

GUWAHATI, Sept 8 - The Assam Olympic Association (AOA) organised a special awareness programme on COVID-19 hygiene among morning walkers and joggers at Dighalipukhuri park Latasil Point here today.

Commissioner of City Police, Munna Prasad Gupta inaugurated the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Gupta said hygiene, such as hand washing, use of mask and social distancing, are the only preventive measures which needs to be practised without fail till a vaccine is available. Informing about the latest government rules regarding enforcement of COVID-19 protocol, the senior police officer said the City Police has so far collected penalties worth Rs 14 lakh from people without face masks in public places in Guwahati over the past two months.�

The AOA team also distributed masks and spread awareness messages among traders and buyers at Uzanbazar fish wholesale market and some other areas of the city.

AOA officials like Rajib Prakash Baruah, Pronoy Bordoloi, Bishnuram Nunisa, Anup Choudhury, Bhabajyoti Goswami, Upen Chakraborty, Hiren Gogoi, Alok Triparthi, Gautam Choudhury, among others were present on the occasion.
