TEZPUR, Feb 7 - The prestigious Anundoram Borooah Award will be distributed on February 9, 12 and 13 among the meritorious students who have scored good marks in the last HSLC and High Madrasha examinations from various schools in Sonitpur district.
Laptops and tables will be distributed among the students on February 9, 12 and 13 at three different places and different functions, stated a Government release. On February 9, the award will be distributed among the students under Tezpur subdivision at a programme scheduled to be held at District Library auditorium here. After formal announcement of the award, the awardees will be able to collect their awards from Rastrabhasha School here on February 10 and 11.
�Students from Biswanth subdivision will be awarded at Biswanath Chariali Adarsha Vidyapith on February 12, while the students from Gohpur subdivision will be awarded on February 13 at Gohpur High School,� the release stated, adding that this time, a total 1,400 students have secured first division and 1,167 students have secured second division in the district.
At Haflong: The ceremonial laptop computer distribution to students of Dima Hasao district, who secured 1st division in HSLC, Examination 2015, was held at the Cultural Instituted Hall, Haflong.
The ceremonial programme was organized by the District Education Department in association with the district administration. Amarendra Baruah, Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao attended the programme as president and Subash Longmailai, retired IAS officer was the chief guest.
A total number of 522 students received the laptops. Gurjal Suri, Rajesh Roy of Don Bosco High School, Haflong and Prithiviraj Dutta of Ever Green High School, Maibang attained the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in Dima Hasao district respectively.
Congratulating all the meritorious students and their parents, Amarendra Baruah, Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao, in his welcome speech threw light on the life of Anundoram Borooah, the 1st ICS officer of Assam. He described Anunduram Borooah as a scholar and a man of principles, who dedicated his life for the uplift of people of Assam. The Deputy Ccommissioner urged the students to follow the principles of Anundoram Borooah.
Chief guest Subash Longmailai, retired IAS, encouraged the students and asked them to continue the trend of good results in HSLC examination. Urging the students to use computers properly, the dignitaries advised the students to abstain from tuitions and study independently with the help of technology and internet.
The programme was also attended by E Sajem, retired Principal, Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, Haflong and VLT Bapui, retired Principal, Synod High School. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Gayatri Naiding, Inspector of Schools, Dima Hasao, Haflong.
At Morigaon: The Education department organised the Anundoram Borooah Award distribution ceremony on February 4 at the Morigaon Town HS School for the 1300 meritorious students who passed the last HSLC, AHM examination in first division from Morigaon district.
An open meeting held on the occasion was presided over by Rakesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Morigaon. Explaining the purpose of the meeting, Lakheswar Thakuria, Inspector of Schools, Morigaon district dwelt at length on the scheme and hoped that the laptops would be beneficial to the students. Participating in the function as the chief guest, Shyam Das, Chairman, Morigaon Zila Parishad appealed to the students to prepare themselves for the All India competitive examination in the future. The second division holders in the HSLC examination from the district were also given electronic tablets.
