Anti-drugs operations in Cachar, Lakhimpur, Dergaon

SILCHAR, Sept 11 - Cachar police, based on inputs, raided a house in Lalmati gali of Meherpur area of Silchar and seized 100 packets of WY tablets � each packet containing 200 tablets.

Additional SP (Headquarters) Jagadish Das said on Thursday that three persons were arrested and a total of 20,000 WY tablets were seized in the operation. The arrested persons have been identified as Kabir Hussain of Baraigram in Karimganj district, Sujit Sinha of Dholai and Varthan Kimi from Serchip district in Mizoram. Police also found their identity cards, two mobile phones and silver colour wrapping paper meant for narcotics.

North Lakhimpur Correspondent adds: Police on Thurday arrested two persons for peddling banned substances. Laluk PS officer-in-charge with his team conducted a raid at Harmuti area and arrested two drug peddlers � Mahiful Islam and Gulzar Hussain of Morigaon district � and seized 25 grams of heroin from their possession. On Tuesday too, the police team of Laluk PS conducted an operation in Banderdewa and arrested one drug peddler and seized around 25 gm of heroin.

Dergaon Correspondent adds: Following a search operation, police recovered a large number of toxic tablets from a vehicle and a store of a pharmacy at Dergaon. Police found three cartons of a tablet Simplex+ containing 43,000 tablets from the a vehicle. On interrogation, the driver said he was told to take the tablets to Dimapur by the owner of the pharmacy. Later, a police team led by Dergaon OC Kulesh Jyoti Bhuyan in presence of executive magistrate and Circle Officer Utpal Kumar Deka raided the store of the pharmacy and the team found such tablets there too. Police arrested the owner Dip Somani and the driver Tofiquil Hussain.
