Anti-CAB protests by KMSS, Left-Democratic Mancha

GUWAHATI, Nov 18 - The Left-Democratic Mancha carried out Statewide protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill on Monday.

As part of the protests, member organisations of the Mancha staged a two-hour sit-in demonstration at the Guwahati Club rotary point here in the morning.

Later the protesters marched to the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (Metro) district to submit a memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister�s Office (PMO), but were stopped by the police near the Dighalipukhuri. Senior police officials received the memorandum on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner.

According to a Mancha statement issued here, protests were held at Nagaon, Tezpur, Biswanath Chariali, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Golaghat, Sivasagar, Dhemaji, Dhakuakhana, Silchar, Karimganj, Hojai, Rangiya, Goreswar, Barpeta, Sarbhog, Kalgachia, Bongaigaon, Goalpara and other places.

The member organisations of the Mancha are � CPI (M), CPI, CPI (ML), Janata Dal (S), NCP, Asom Sangrami Mancha, Aam Aadmi Party, Liberal Democratic Party and RCPI.

Meanwhile, the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) began its second round of protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill on Monday. Members of the organisation distributed leaflets acros the State to create mass awareness against the Bill.

In Guwahati city KMSS members formed a human chain at Chandmari. Its leadership also appealed to all people and organisations of the State to start a united movement against the Bill.
