Anti-CAA stir needs strong leadership, says Ajit Bhuyan

GUWAHATI, March 18 - The anti-CAA movement in State needs a strong and uncompromising leadership. The leadership should also need enough patience to sustain the movement in complex atmosphere too.

It was observed by the newly elected Rajya Sabha MP and a leading voice of anti-CAA movement in Assam, Ajit Kumar Bhuyan, while addressing a press conference under the aegis of the Axom Nagarik Samaj (ANS) here on Wednesday. Bhuyan is executive president of the ANS.

�After spending more than 35 years in active journalism, I have decided to join active politics. Now I will play the role of a strong anti-CAA voice at the Upper House. I will always fight to safeguard the Constitution and its secular characteristic,� Bhuyan said.

He stated that this Rajya Sabha election has a great significance and his victory is regarded as the great defeat for the ruling BJP. He also said that it is time to detect the main enemy of Assamese society.

Talking about the election, senior journalist and vice-president of ANS, Prasanta Rajguru, said, �Ajit Kumar Bhuyan was elected to the Upper House at a very crucial time. We are thankful to those who supported him in the election.�

Senior advocate and member of the ANS, Shantanu Borthakur, expressed hope that Bhuyan will play an active role as a representative of the Assamese people in the Parliament.
