Anthology of poems released

JORHAT, July 13 - The first anthology of poems by budding poet Ankur Borgohain, a Jorhat-based journalist was released here at a solemn function on Wednesday.

Seven popular poets of the State released the book named Adiparva (Beginning of Earth) at the auditorium of Jorhat Science Centre and Planetarium.

The book has 45 poems penned by Borgohain, who started writing poetry since 1996. The cover design of the book has been done by Abir Borgohain, elder brother of Ankur, while noted sculptor and artist Saleha Ahmed has illustrated the book of poems.

The seven poets who released the book published by Nirikhiyan Prakashan were: Parag Jyoti Mahanta, Bipul Regan, Syed Parviz Hussain, Ujjal Powgam, Ranjit Gogoi, Rajani Kanta Bordoloi and Ahim Chutia.

In his address, Ankur admitted that he did not know exactly how he got to write poetry, but that he just started noting down his thoughts over two decades back.

�I shall continue to pursue my passion as it has become a part of my life,� Ankur said.

Earlier, the welcome address was offered by Ahim Chutia, publisher of the book.
