Another woman�s body recovered from train

JORHAT, July 11 - A day after a girl student of Assam Agricultural University (AAU) was found murdered inside the toilet of the Dibrugarh-Rangiya Express train at the Simaluguri station in Sivasagar district, a body of a woman was today recovered inside the Avadh-Assam train at the Mariani railway junction under Titabar sub-division of the district.

Titabar Sub-divisional Police officer Luna Sonowal from Mariani told The Assam Tribune that the woman body was found in a semi-clad state with a gamosa tied to her neck inside the toilet of the disabled bogey of Dibrugarh-Lalgarh Avadh-Assam train at around 2.15pm. The woman is suspected to have been murdered by strangulation, the SDPO said.

The train had reportedly left Dibrugarh station at 9.35am and had reached Mariani a bit late than the scheduled time.

Sonowal said that body has been believed to be Lalima Devi (48), a resident of Dibrugarh. She said that son of Devi was on his way to identify the body.

The SDPO said forensic teams from Dibrugarh and Guwahati were on their way to assist the investigation.

When asked whether the deceased was raped before murder, Sonowal said that Government Railway Police was investigating the case, and only after post-mortem of the body things will be clear.

Meanwhile, the Assam Agricultural University students has demanded a CBI inquiry into the murder of an AAU student Radha Kumari whose body was found in a train at Simaluguri station in upper Assam�s Sivasagar district yesterday.
