Another jolt to KMSS

By Correspondent

TEZPUR, April 16 - Angered with the activities of the President of KMSS, Akhil Gogoi, members of Sonitpur District chapter of KMSS today resigned from all their posts giving another major setback for the peasants body after the resignation of its secretary general Kamal Medhi.

In a press conference held here today, after resigning from the organisation as president of the district committee, Prashanta Baisya alleged that following nepotism of Akhil Gogoi and central executive member Chitra Gogoi, the Sonitpur District Committee of KMSS was in a displaced state.

Particularly during the pre-poll days, the role of the duo was quite doubtful as they directed us to campaign against BJP stating that it is a communal party. But they never told us as to whom we should vote putting us in a dilemma. This compelled us to think that Akhil Gogoi and Chitra Gogoi were motivated by the Congress party. Baisya alleged that after the formation of the Ganamukti Sangram Samittee, KMSSs activities started becoming confused. Instead of taking forward the real movement related to the disadvantaged people, Akhil Gogoi and some of this associates started giving priority to political matters which defamed the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samittee that was widely accepted by all sections of the society. In Sonitpur, we raised our voice against rampant corruption in different departments, but these leaders used to compromise with these issues for earning a few extra rupees. Therefore, we were dissatisfied, and today, we resigned from the organisation.

Baisya, however, added that despite this break up they would take forward the issues that were taken up earlier and continue their struggle.
