Anomalies in payment of salaries alleged

By Correspondent

TEZPUR, Dec 23 - The ward boys, girls and cleaning staff engaged in Tezpur Medical College have alleged that they have been inhumanly exploited by the North East Security Service Private Limited.

It is worth mentioning here that there are 127 cleaning staff and ward boys and girls, who as per the contract with the agency, should get a salary of Rs 8,504 each covering ESI of Rs 342 and EPF of Rs 962.

However, the agency North East Security Service Private Limited, has been giving only Rs 5,600 to the workers engaged in the medical college. The contractually-appointed employees of the medical college also alleged that the agency has been cheating the employees as it hasnt provided any document regarding ESI and EPF submission to the employees till date.

Importantly, thing is that the agency pays our salary after taking our signature on blank papers keeping us in the dark, they alleged. They added that they have already submitted several memorandums to the authority concerned, including State Labour Minister Pallab Lochan Das and Labour Commissioner seeking justice.

Expressing their dissatisfaction over the matter, the employees said that though District Labour Commissioner Dhurva Jyoti Borah visited the medical college recently, he ended his responsibility without going deep into the subject matter and suggested the contractual employees to seek more details through RTI.
