GUWAHATI, March 21 - The Greater Guwahati Tenants� Rights Protection Committee has demanded a probe into the alleged anomalies and corruption under the previous Congress government in allotting houses under the Assam Housing Board.
In a statement, it said a large number of people were allotted houses in gross violation of norms during the Congress rule since its first term in 2001. �Moreover, many of the occupants in Housing Board residences later constructed their own homes and have been renting out their Housing Board accommodations to others,� it said.
The committee demanded that the State government immediately probe the matter and take action against the guilty, besides evicting the non-eligible occupants from the Housing Board flats.
