BAIHATA CHARIALI, April 26 - The public of Loharghat and its adjacent areas alleged anomalies in the ongoing construction of the forest beat office at Ghilabari under Loharghat Range Forest Office of the West Kamrup Forest Division.
The local people of the area stated that Rs 25 lakh was allotted for the construction of the office building of Ghilabari Beat Office under a government scheme, but the construction work was not done as per norms.
Sub-standard materials were used in the construction, though the responsibility of the construction and supply of materials and equipment was entrusted with Santanu Patowary, Range Officer of the Loharghat Range Office.
The local people alleged that change of mason and workers, insufficient watering of the walls, lack of timely supervision by the authorities concerned, etc., were also the factors behind the low quality of construction. Although the Range Officer said the construction work is under way as per guidelines, but he hesitated to discuss about the construction work publicly, alleged a few conscious citizens of the area.
