Annual meet of Bodo bodies ends

DIPHU, Jan 7 - The annual session of the Karbi Anglong district units of four Bodo frontal organisations Kachari Samaj (KS), Boro Sahitya Sabha (BSS), All Bodo Women�s Welfare Federation (ABWWF) and Dularai Boro Harimu Afat (DBHA), which started from January 3, concluded at Howraghat Tiniali near here on Tuesday.

On the closing day, the flags of the four organisations were unfurled jointly by the presidents of the respective units � Ratneswar Basumatary, Bhupen Chandra Narzary, Mrinalini Hazowary and Dipen Basumatary.

Later, homage was paid to martyrs by Pamphla Basumatary, vice president, BSS, which was followed by the lighting of earthen lamps by Shasen Boro, vice president, KS, Lila Daimary, vice president, ABWWF, and Nakul Brahma, vice president, DBHA. A felicitation programme was also organised by the Bodo organisations where Sarat Brahma, EM, KAAC, was felicitated.

After the conclusion of the annual session of the Bodo frontal organisations, a seminar on the topic, �Challenges faced by Bodos as a consequence of family planning,� was held with Uttam Chandra Brahma in the chair. The seminar was inaugurated by Sarat Brahma. Nipen Chandra Baglary, principal, Langhin Pamgaon HS School, Santiram Basumatary and Lakhimai Khakhlary attended the seminar as resource persons.

Before the beginning of the seminar, the first issue of The Kachari, the mouthpiece of KS, was released by Sahitya Akademi award winner Auranbida Uzir. A book of Bodo poems titled Gwrbwni Abad Thili, written by Ajit Basumatary, senior journalist, was also released by Uzir.

Representatives from the BLT Welfare Society, Karbi Anglong District Bodo Primary Teachers� Association (BPTA) and several other Bodo organisations of the district were present in the seminar.
