Anniversary of Nagaon elders� body

NAGAON, Feb 28 � To mark the 10th anniversary of the Nagaon district unit of the Senior Citizens� Association, a function was held here on Friday. The programme started with the hoisting of the flag by the president of the body, Jibeswar Borthakur.

An open session was held at the Nagaon Zila Sahitya Sabha Bhawan. Prominent members of the Association, including retired principal Pradip Saikia, Dr Birinchji Kumar Bora, Babli Bora, Prabhat Bora, retired engineer Lalit Dutta, retired officer Bhupen Chandra Das and others, addressed the session. They highlighted the issues faced by the State like big dams, proposed Land Acquisition Bill, etc.

The Senior Citizens� Association demanded establishment of an ICU in the BP Civil hospital, Nagaon, with trained doctors and other staff.

Jibeswar Borthakur chaired the open session. Secretary Sarat Chandra Sharma appealed to the senior citizens of Nagaon to strengthen the organisation. Mukul Chandra Saikia offered the vote of thanks.
