Ankushita, Jamuna feted

TEZPUR, Dec 1 - Attending a special felicitation programme �Prerana Utsav� organised to felicitate the two women boxing stars of the district namely Ankushita Boro and Jamuna Boro organised at the Ulubari Dewkhal Field near Thelamara area under Dhekiajuli LAC in Sonitpur district Assam Chief Minister Sarbanada Sonowal today said that the BJP Government had an ambitious plan to nurture the sports talents of the region.

He stated that due to lack of adequate infrastructure, many budding sports talent cannot develop themselves. Therefore, we are taking certain special steps for the infrastructure development and as part of it the State Government will construct 500 playgrounds with modern facilities throughout the State. Further, the Government will appoint sports teachers to train the budding talents, he said and added that games and sport help one to be physically and mentally strong.

Announcing financial assistance of Rs ten lakhs to Ankushita Boro from the State Government Sonowal also mentioned that the Government will help Boro to complete her future sports training. He also mentioned that the dream of making Guwahati a sports capital of the nation is gradually turning into a reality.

Earlier, Rajya Sabha MP, Biswajit Daimary felicitated the pugilists. He also gave a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to Ankushita Boro. RP Sharma, Member of Parliament and MLA, Dhekiajuli LAC, Ashok Singhal also addressed the gathering.
