Animal vaccination initiative

GUWAHATI, July 18 - A free health check-up camp and vaccination initiative for animals and an eye check-up camp for humans were held at Pyranga model village, Boko on Sunday.

Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, (IIE) Guwahati, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India inaugurated the Model Village Adoption Programme at Pyranga Eri Cluster, Assam.

The programme is being implemented by the IIE in collaboration with the Rajib Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD) since June 1, 2016.

Under this programme, IIE organised the free health check-up camp, vaccination initiative for animals and eye check-up for humans with the support of Just Be Friendly (JBF).

In the camp, there were eight veterinary doctors and 12 assistants from JBF, besides IIE officials. A total of 192 cattle were vaccinated at the camp. JBF distributed medicines for 313 cattle, 353 goats, 154 pigs and 2,133 chickens.

Dr Madhurya Gogoi, eye specialist conducted the eye camp where 158 people from the village were given free eye check-up and treatment. Rekhamoni Hazarika, project coordinator, IIE and Dr Sashanka Sekhar Dutta, chief functionary, JBF were also present.
