Animal treatment camps in flood-affected areas

GUWAHATI, Aug 3 - As desired by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and following discussions held between the Minister of Agriculture and Veterinary and the Vice Chancellor of the Assam Agricultural University, expert teams from the College of Veterinary Science AAU, Khanapra, are being sent to Majuli, Golaghat, Kaziranga, Nagaon, Morigaon, North Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Kamrup, Chirang and Dhubri districts to assess animal health and production conditions and to take up improvement measures along with animal treatment camps in the flood-affected areas. This was stated in a press release.

The expert teams will move to different destinations at 7 am tomorrow.

The Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK) of the respective districts will render necessary help and provide logistic support. Besides, local officials and doctors of the State AH & Veterinary Department will also cooperate.

A similar exercise has been taken up by 22 KVKs of AAU to assess crop damage and follow-up actions, such as raising community nurseries of short duration, paddy varieties like �Luit� and �Disang�.
