Andhra to host 2019 National Games

HYDERABAD, Dec 24: Andhra Pradesh will host the National Games in 2019, Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Chairman PR Mohan said today.

The Indian Olympic Association, at its meeting held in Guwahati on Wednesday, agreed to the proposal to host the Games made by the SAAP Chairman, Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association General Secretary Purushotham and other sports officials from the State, Mohan said in a release.

The IOA delegates agreed to the proposal as they have immense faith in the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, it said. The delegates at the meeting recalled the Afro-Asian Games conducted in undivided Andhra Pradesh during Naidu�s earlier tenure as Chief Minister, the release added. � PTI

New Delhi, Dec 24: Excited to make a comeback at the Premier Badminton League (PBL) after an injury lay off, Parupalli Kashyap is hoping to face Kidambi Srikanth in his opening encounter when Hyderabad Hunters take on Bengaluru Top Guns in Mumbai on January 3rd.

�I am awaiting my first match and hoping that it will be a clash against Srikanth. If we play against each other it will be an exciting game, giving the in stadia crowd as well as the viewers an exhilarating game of badminton,� Kashyap said. �Also With Lee Chong Wei in our team, we look like a formidable line-up and we are all set to give a tough time to the opponents,� he added.

The Premier Badminton League will start from January 2 as Mumbai Rockets take on Awadhe Warriors in the inaugural match. The Premier Badminton League will see six franchises - Delhi Acers, Hyderabad Hunters, Bengaluru Top Guns, Chennai Smashers, Mumbai Rockets and Awadhe Warriors - competing for the top honour. � PTI
