Andhra leaders call to teach BJP a lesson

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, March 29 - Leaders of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee today made an appeal to the people of the State to vote for the Congress in the ensuing Assembly elections of the State and thus teach Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a lesson for their deceitful acts.

Dr N Raghuveera Reddy, president, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee, Dr KVP Ramachandra Rao, member of the Rajya Sabha, C Ramchandriah, Leader of the Opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council and Gidugu Rudra Raju, general secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee, said in a joint statement issued here today that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a master practitioner of deception.

Modi speaks of vikas (development) while addressing rallies in Assam, but has annulled the special category state status, which was enjoyed by Assam since 1969. It has also withdrawn the North East Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy and removed the 90:10 funding pattern of the Centrally-sponsored schemes, among others. All these steps of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre are sure to ensure vinaash (doom) of Assam.

Not only this, the Modi-led government at the Centre has also removed the subsidies for the ration of the tea garden workers.

Every vote for the BJP would contribute to giving Mr Modi the licence and liberty to deceive and cheat you. When 300 senior Congress leaders from AP (Andhra Pradesh) went to Delhi to meet him this month and explain to him the injustice being meted out to the bifurcated part of AP, he refused to meet us, said the Andhra Pradesh Congress leaders.
