DIPHU, Nov 20 - The Karbi Students� Association (KSA) celebrated the Amur Falcon Festival for the second consecutive time at Musaldeng, Umrukhuti located in Chinthong area of West Karbi Anglong district.
KSA president Bijoy Bey formally launched the festival by unfurling the organizational flag. In his inaugural speech, Bey stated that every individual is responsible for generating awareness to protect the migratory Amur Falcon birds which make a break in their journey in this particular zone for one-and-a-half month during their travel from Siberia to South Africa. �We should promote tourism in West Karbi Anglong district and spread the importance of conserving wildlife,� he said.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the festival was initiated by the Karbi Students� Association along with All Assam Gorkha Students� Union and Chinthong Youth Development Committee. The bird watching week starts on November 12 and officially concludes on November 19. The programme was joined by local residents of Amri and Chinthong locality, activists of KSA and members of bikers� club.
Villagers dissatisfied: Inhabitants of nearly 19 villages located within the Lumbajong development block have expressed dissatisfaction over the functioning of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, particularly against Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang for his alleged failure in complying with promises made. The people of Mejungdisa, Tari Adong, Langkaijan and adjacent villages have begun repairing the village road on their own.
The place is situated around 20 kilometres from Diphu, and the entire area don�t have proper road facilities till today. A few days back, a delegation of the Semson Teron faction of the Karbi Students� Association led by Jonasing Bey along with the villagers cleared the village road.
