JORABAT, Sept 6 - The Amri Karbi Autonomous Demand Committee (AKADC) today stated that it would block the railway line at Tetelia near Sonapur on September 12 for eight hours starting from 4 am to 12 noon.
For the last 38 years, six different Amri-Karbi organisations have been seeking the fulfilment of their six demands, including according Sixth Schedule status to Amri-Karbis, but the erstwhile Congress government and the present BJP government have failed to fulfil their demand till date.
Hareshwar Rahang, on behalf of the organisation, said it would take the protest to a new level given the lackadaisical attitude of the government towards the fulfilment of their demands. We have now decided to block the railway line and take our protest to the next level, like economic blockade, if our demands are not met at the earliest. The government will be responsible for any loss of lives and properties, and not us, he added.
