Amputees get artificial limbs in Sivasagar, Charaideo

GUWAHATI, May 28 - Continuing its endeavour, ONGC has launched a CSR project to help Divyangs (persons with disability) find the �joy of mobility�. ONGC, Assam Asset through its pro-active CSR initiative provided free intelligent robotic artificial limbs to Divyangs of Sivasagar and Charaideo districts of Assam.

During the final leg of a mega camp held at the Officers� Club, ONGC, Nazira today, 13 amputees were provided 14 custom fit intelligent robotic artificial limbs in presence of ED asset manager, ONGC, Assam Asset SD Maske, Sivasagar deputy commissioner Dr Lakshmanon S, ED-OSD, ONGC, Assam Asset AK Gupta and CGM-head HR/ER, ONGC, Assam Asset Sanjay Goel.

Earlier, nine Divyangs were fitted with artificial limbs on December 17 last year at the ONGC Officers� Club, Nazira.

The cost of the first three phases of the project which includes 22 beneficiaries is Rs 43 lakh. There are many amputees in both the districts who need prosthetic and orthotic treatment.

The beneficiaries of the project were selected by the district administrations of Charaideo and Sivasagar.

Speaking on the occasion, SD Maske said, �Any disability can be life-shattering. It should not come in the way of leading a life with dignity. It is our sincere efforts to enable the Divyangs to lead a better life.� Dr Lakshmanon S highly appreciated ONGC�s pro-active CSR and thanked ONGC, Assam Asset for the commendable initiative to help the Divyangs lead a normal life.
